Kelly House is a four story an apartment complex for upperclassmen at the corner of St. Philip and Vanderhorst Streets. Constructed in 1995, Kelly house features a central courtyard and central laundry room located on the 1 st floor. To ensure resident safety, this building contains a multi-zone fire alarm system, fire sprinkler system, digital security camera system and 24-hour information/security desk.

Kelly House is arranged with all apartments opening to outside corridors. Townhouse apartments are shared by 5 residents and consist of 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 1 living room with full kitchen. Single-level apartments are shared by 2-6 residents and consist of 2-3 bedrooms and 1-2 bathrooms. All apartments contain white walls and ceilings, ivory doors and ivory trim . All bedrooms contain per resident:

  • Tan cut-pile carpeting

  • One closet with non-locking bi-fold door

  • Two wood frame beds with cherry finish, 36”wide x 80"long. Beds are lofted with approximately 66” of vertical clearance underneath. Upon request, beds can be semi-lofted or bunked by staff. Please note these mattresses accept only "twin-long" sheets.

  • One desk with cherry finish, 42”wide x 24”deep x 30”high. All desks have a retractable keyboard and mouse surface with rear storage, retractable reference shelf, two open shelves and one storage drawer.

  • One desk chair, navy blue upholstered seat and back with cherry wood frame

  • One 3-drawer chest with cherry finish, 30”wide x 24”deep x 30”high. Chest is designed to align perfectly with desk to create a 78”wide continuous worksurface under the lofted bed assembly.

  • One window, varying in dimension according to apartment. Average window size is approximately 33”wide x 70”high. All windows are covered by 1”aluminum mini-blinds. We do not allow wall or frame fastened curtain rods, but students may drape fabric from the valance of the blinds.

  • Outlets for telephone and basic cable TV. Wireless internet can be accessed anywhere in the room.

Common Areas: Each apartment has a common area with three barstools at the kitchen counter, two loveseats, one TV cube (in single-level apartments) and one coffee table, all in a cherry wood finish. Townhouse living rooms contain a built-in entertainment nook underneath the staircase. Upholsteries contain multiple colors in their patterns to coordinate with almost anyone's color preferences . Each kitchen contains cabinetry, a sink with garbage disposal, a dishwasher, a microwave, a full-size refrigerator and a stove to be shared by all residents in the apartment. Extra microwaves and/or mini-refrigerators brought by students are not allowed.

Bathrooms: Suites have 1-2 bathrooms. Each bathroom is used by 2-3 people and has a vanity area with sink, toilet, and tub/shower combination. The vanity has limited drawer and cabinet space for toiletry items. For added storage space, some residents have purchased over-toilet cabinets that are floor supported via poles (wall attachment isn't allowed). We encourage residents to keep more valued belongings with them in their bedrooms. Each bathroom has a towel bar as well as the tub/shower rod that is 60" wide. New white vinyl shower curtains are placed in the bathrooms each year. Students can dress up the space by adding a decorative curtain to the front if desired.

Typical Bedroom Dimensions: Room dimensions vary according to specific location, but typical townhouse single bedrooms measure 9’-0”wide x 10’-0”long. Typical townhouse double bedrooms measure 11’-0”wide x 12’-0”long. Typical single-level double bedrooms measure 8’-0”wide x 12’-0”long or 11’-0”wide x 11’-0”long.
