Craig Residence Hall
Craig Residence Hall, a three story building at the corner of St. Philip and George Streets, houses approximately 134 men. Craig Residence Hall is composed of two sections, Craig Hall and Craig Union. Craig Hall is suite style where two, three, and four bedroom suites share a common living area and two baths. Craig Union is the original structure in which three bedrooms are arranged around a common room and a large common bath. In both Craig Hall and Craig Union it is typical for two residents to be assigned to each bedroom. Craig offers laundry facilities, a study room, vending/snack area, a computer room, and a large lounge area used for meetings and social gatherings. Craig residents have the convenience of the main campus cafeteria being located on the first floor. Please read below for further descriptions of Craig Hall and Craig Union.

Craig Hall
Each suite has a furnished living area that contains a lounge chair and a sofa, one end table, and a TV cube all in an oak wood finish. Upholsteries contain multiple colors in their patterns to coordinate with almost anyone's color preference. Walls throughout the suites are bright white. Flooring is linoleum in a coffee brown color. Each living area has a microfridge (combination microwave and refrigerator) that is to be shared by all residents in the suite. Residents are allowed to bring an additional mini-refrigerator for their bedrooms (only one per bedroom). Extra microwaves brought by students are not allowed.

Bedrooms have bright white walls with colorful trim varying by floor. Flooring is linoleum in a coffee brown color. Bedroom lighting is adequate, but residents may wish to bring desk lights if desired. Please note that halogen lamps are not allowed. Furnishings for each resident include a wardrobe cabinet, bed and mattress, and a desk with a desk chair. Wardrobe cabinets are 30" W x 24" D x 72" H with an oak wood finish. The top portion of the cabinet has a bar for hanging clothes and the bottom portion of the cabinet contains two dresser drawers (30" W x 24" D). Beds are 36" W x 80" L, have wooden frames with an oak wood finish, and the mattresses accept only "long" sheets. Beds are unbunked, but can be bunked if requested. Please note that beds are not loftable. Desks are 42 " W x 24" D x 30" H with an oak wood finish and have a slide-out drawer for a keyboard and mouse, a reference shelf, a drawer, and two shelves.

Each bedroom has one or more window that varies in size throughout the building. Windows are covered with white 2" blinds or white 1" blinds dependent on window size. As a policy, we only allow tension rods on windows, but because of the size of the blinds, there will not be room for a tension rod. The only way to do a window treatment would be to creatively drape fabric off of the valance of the blinds.

The typical suite has two bathrooms to be shared by all residents. Each bathroom is used by 2 - 4 people and has a vanity area with a sink, toilet, and tub/shower combination. The vanity has no drawer and limited cabinet space for toiletry items. For added storage space, some creative residents have purchased over-toilet cabinets that are floor supported via poles (wall attachment isn't allowed). We encourage residents to keep more valued belongings with them in their bedrooms. Each bathroom has a towel bar as well as the tub/shower rod that is 60" wide. New white vinyl shower curtains are placed in the bathrooms each year. Students can dress up the space by adding a decorative curtain to the front if desired.

Upholsteries contain multiple colors in their patterns to coordinate with almost anyone's color preference. Walls throughout the suites are bright white. Floor tile is white with a decorative pattern containing multiple colors. Each bedroom has one or more windows that measure 39" W x 52" H. Windows are covered with white 2" blinds. As a policy, we only allow tension rods on windows, but because of the size of the blinds, there will not be room for a tension rod. The only way to do a window treatment would be to creatively drape fabric off of the valance of the blinds.

Typically, each suite has a common bathroom shared by six residents. Bathrooms have two pedestal sinks, a toilet, a urinal, and two individual showers with curtains. There is no drawer or cabinet space for toiletry items. Because of the nature of the common bathroom, we encourage residents to keep more valued belongings with them in their bedrooms. Each bathroom has a towel bar, a shower rod, and new white vinyl shower curtains that are placed in the bathrooms each year.

Historic Residential Houses
The historic residence houses are another type of “residence hall,” typically for upperclassmen. Each bedroom sleeps one, two, or three students. Residents of this area have access to laundry and computer facilities in Craig, College Lodge, McConnell, Buist Rivers, and Rutledge Residence Halls. Houses include Lesesne; 15, 17 St. Philip Street; 90, 92 Wentworth Street; 13, 29, 31, 70, 72 Coming Street; 298, 300 Meeting Street; 8 Kirkland; and 2, 4, 6, 8, 24 Bull Street. For residents’ use, there is a recreation/picnic area located behind the houses on Bull Street. Each individual house/carriage house has a distinct personality and charm. Floor plans vary between houses, making them all unique living and learning environments.

Each room has:
Single or bunk beds, individual desks, desk chairs, chests of drawers, wardrobes or closets, mini blinds, air conditioning,
telephone hookup (per bedroom), cable television (basic service), "wireless" internet service (except 90 Wentworth St. is "wired").
