To apply for a Professional Staff position within the Residential Living and Programming Area you need to submit a letter of interest, resume, and a list of three references. Applications are accepted all year long, and typically the initial contact period for scheduling interviews begins in February.
Members of the Residence Life and Housing staff do attend several conferences(SEAHO and SPE) in the Spring in which they do conduct interviews. If you plan to attend one of these and would like to schedule an interview please let us know.
Residence Hall Director I
The position of Residence Hall Director (RHD) is a 10-month, live-in position for graduate students. The RHD is responsible for the day-to-day operations of one of eight residence halls or historic houses (including all special housing options such as Greeks & Language). Additional duties include maintaining a positive living/learning environment through educational and social programming. The RHD supervises a staff of Resident Assistants (RAs), Desk Assistants (DAs) and monitors maintenance/custodial staff. The RHD also serves as an on-site facilitator for residents. Head Resident
The position of Head Resident (HR) is a 10-month, live-in position for undergraduate or graduate students. The HR is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of his/her building. Additional duties include maintaining a positive living/learning environment through educational and social programming. The HR supervises a staff of Resident Assistants (RAs) and Desk Assistants (DAs), and monitors maintenance/custodial staff. Desk Assistant
The Desk Assistant (DA) is a full-time, undergraduate, or graduate student who – under the supervision and direction of the Residence Hall Director and Area Coordinator – serves as an administrator, role model, friend and team member for the residents in a residence hall. The DA works to maintain an environment that encourages academic and personal growth of the students within their assigned hall. In carrying out his or her duties, the DA is expected to treat other students, supervisors, guests and fellow employees with courtesy and respect.
